As I sit quietly at my computer typing this post, I think about what an amazing week it has been. So much growth has happened at the preschool that I work at. As this week was the last week in January, we talked about the next month and got ready for its grand arrival.
I was chosen to design the bulletin board for February, and I was so proud of the final product. It is always such a love fest in my classroom. I take decorating and crafting seriously in my classroom.
I am all ready for February, and I can't wait for the day of love this month. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it is funny to see my students talk about "having girlfriends or boyfriends". They do not even know what this means but it sure is cute to see them interact with one another and develop their emotional self.In particular this week, I had a student telling me that "his brother has his eye on me. And that he thinks I am beautiful." I was so shocked.
My favorite event that happened this week took place during work time on Thursday. Here is the conversation with one of my kindergartener boys'.
Student: "What's the name of this continent?"
Me: "Africa. Want a cool way to remember the name of that continent?"
Student: "Yes, Ms.Avonlea"
Me: "See how on the puzzle Africa is the color yellow, think about how Ms. Avonlea's favorite color is yellow and because you are thinking about me also remember that I want to build a school in Africa one day."
Student: "You mean you are leaving me?"
Me: "Not yet."
Student: "I love you, Ms. Avonlea."
Me: "I love you, too."
It is moments like that which captivates my heart. I love how genuine my students are. God truly blessed me.
Stay tuned for more stories and fun things that I am learning. Later this month, I will post about my favorite Valentine's day and the reason why I LOVE teaching so much.
